2004 Vega Sindoa Cabernet Sauvignon-Tempranillo - 3/27/2007

2004 Vega Sindoa Cabernet Sauvignon-Tempranillo

The vineyards of Bodegas Nekeas, nestled in the rolling green hills and gentle slopes of the Valdizarbe Valley, seem out of place with the bustling, vibrant nearby city of Pamplona. Medieval ruins dot the valley, since pilgrims passed this way the finest grapes in Navarra have always been grown in the foothills of the Pyrennes, buffeted by the winds from the Atlantic. Here Cabernet Sauvignon is planted in red clay at 1,500 feet in elevation.

While higher up the slopes Tempranillo flourishes in calcareous white clay.

“An amazing value, it boost a deep ruby/purple color as well as a big, sweet perfume of blackberries, currants, licorice, and smoked herbs. Supple-textured and medium-bodied, with loads of fruit, this is an extraordinary red.”
