Job Description
Miles Farmers Market is seeking a skilled, reliable, and personable Meat Cutter to join our full-service, high-volume Meat Department. Our ideal candidate brings craftsmanship, speed, and care to the art of meat cutting—and understands the importance of great customer service in a retail environment.
This role includes preparing fresh cuts of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, veal, and seafood, and working alongside our team to create a welcoming, helpful shopping experience for every customer. Our Meat Cutters are not just behind the scenes—they interact directly with customers at our full-service counter to fulfill custom orders and ensure satisfaction.
Position Details:

Full-time or part-time

Starting pay: $22–$24/hour, based on experience

5–10 hours of overtime (time and a half) available weekly

Pre-holiday and weekend availability is essential

Closed on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day

Responsibilities:

Cut and prepare a variety of meats and seafood with precision, consistency, and attention to quality

Fill customer requests at the full-service counter and provide knowledgeable, friendly service

Ensure cases are well-stocked, clean, and visually appealing

Work closely with Meat Clerks to ensure product availability and customer satisfaction

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and equipment protocols

Wrap, label, and merchandise product for both retail and catering needs

Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of retail meat cutting experience

Strong knife skills; experience using saws, slicers, grinders, and other cutting tools

Comfort working with all proteins: beef, pork, chicken, lamb, veal, and seafood

Ability to interact positively and professionally with customers and coworkers alike

Attention to detail, efficiency, and a strong work ethic

Training:

We believe in setting our employees up for success. You’ll begin your training directly with our Meat Department Manager, who will walk you through our processes, standards, and equipment. From there, you’ll shadow experienced meat cutters and receive hands-on guidance as you learn to handle our full range of products—beef, pork, chicken, lamb, veal, and seafood—with the precision and care our customers expect.
